While I’ve always had a natural knack for organizing, it became a necessity for me when I became a mother and #adulting got hard. Everyone and everything needed my attention- family, work, house, bills, pets, etc. All of a sudden, there was so much to do in a day, and not enough time or energy to do it all. I had no choice but to get organized.

My household organizing began in earnest with my son and all the clothes, toys and other items that young children need and quickly grow out of. I created a system for his clothes based on season and storage for all the hand-me-down clothes he had yet to grow into. I got bins for all the toys, storage containers for all the little stuff (thermometers, bottles, diapers, wipes, etc.) and I cleared space amongst my furniture for all the bigger items (baby swing, activity center and Pack N Play). I made sure that we could easily access whatever we needed in the moment for our son, while also having a tidy and organized home that felt restorative.

After I got my son’s stuff organized, I began to organize all the other spaces in my home, from closets to the kitchen to the garage, and let me tell you, these small improvements in our day-to-day life added up to big differences overall. My home is much less chaotic when anyone who needs something can easily find it and easily put it back. I open my closets and the visual organization and beautiful bins actually bring me joy. Mornings in the kitchen are easier when we are making breakfast and lunches and preparing for the day.
